Classes on Vicarious Trauma

Vicarious trauma happens when you suffer as a result of caring for someone who has been traumatized. Simply being around someone who has a nervous system in a highly aroused and traumatized state can induce a similar state in you. If you care for people in such a state all day long in your work, you may run the risk of burning yourself out from all this contact.

Blackbird Family Therapy, Inc. offers a free on-site training that will give you concrete exercises you can use to help care for yourself so you can care for others. You will walk away from the training with tangible methods you can use to help yourself and those you care for, right away.

The training is appropriate for people who work in mental health, law enforcement, and medicine. CEUs available for MFTs and LCSWs.

Free Classes for Foster Care Providers

Working with foster kids can be very challenging. We know, because we do it too. We've learned how to work with kids so that problem behaviors don't escalate, and so both you and the kids you care about get the care and respect you both deserve.
